Hilary Brueck
Health correspondent, Business Insider
Hilary Brueck is a correspondent at Business Insider where she covers human longevity, from birth to death. She is endlessly fascinated by how our bodies and minds interact with our environment and change throughout our lifetimes.
Hilary reports and writes regularly about all aspects of the quest to improve aging. Recent dispatches include an interview with a CEO working to reduce her biological age, a status check on the benefits of fasting for longevity, and a quick-and-dirty guide for how to sleep like a millionaire. Her feature story on “Long-lived Loma Linda,” the only American longevity Blue Zone, was nominated for a 2024 James Beard Media Award, and her recent infographic “What loneliness does to your body and brain” was a 2024 New York Press Club award winner.
She is also a firm believer that experience is one of the best teachers, and as such is not afraid to get her hands dirty at work. She’s trudged through Jersey Shore bird poop with scientists studying it for pandemic flu threats, used CRISPR to edit fish genes, and examined her own oral microbiome — where a slew of truly beautiful bacterial colonies live. Prior to joining BI, Hilary wrote and reported for Forbes, Fortune, and ABC News, among other outlets. She speaks English, French, and Malagasy.
